The Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation’s Community Leaders Program is a nine month intensive training program that will educate individuals about their community while helping them to develop their own personal and professional skills.  The Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation (TEC-CDC) recognizes the importance of proper training which will empower not only the individual but the community.

Training

The cornerstone of any community is its residents. TEC-CDC staff has developed a training program for residents that will strengthen their skills in order to compete in today’s job market. TEC-CDC staff will coach and support Community Leaders throughout the program. Each March there will be an intensive two week training that will focus on Five Community Concepts: 1) Effective Communication 2) Customer Service 3) Problem Solving 4) Community Awareness and 5) Service Leadership. These concepts will be reinforced by monthly trainings (April – October) with community partners. The Community Leaders Program is an opportunity for residents who want to improve their lives and their community.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

As part of the training, TEC-CDC will focus on connecting Community Leaders to their neighbors and the broader community. Our community engagement practice will focus on strengthening the social fabric of the neighborhood by providing the tools needed to develop meaningful communal relationships. Community Leaders will be trained to conduct surveys, provide timely, relevant connections to social services; extend the local outreach capacity of public education campaigns; and develop new initiatives to improve the neighborhood. Through their training Community Leaders will provide a two-way communication method between populations that are otherwise hard to engage and thus strengthening the community.

Service

Community Leaders will be required to plan and implement a Service Project in order to graduate from the program. A service project could include a neighborhood block clean-up, an educational workshop, or a community event. This first-hand experience will reinforce their training and provide an opportunity to further engage the community. After completing the program Community Leaders will have the knowledge and confidence to address issues which will make them a true leader in their community.
